* In order to be recognized in Bulgaria a document issued by a foreign state and vice versa – a Bulgarian document should be recognized in another country, it must be translated and legalized.

In Bulgaria, the service is performed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice with a special certificate “APOSTILLE”.

Furthermore, in order for a document to be legalized, it is necessary to carry the necessary seals and endorsements required by the Bulgarian legislation and the bilateral agreements to which the Republic of Bulgaria is a party.

What is apostille?

Apostille means the certification of a document in the country in which it was issued. This is a unified way of legalizing public acts and documents that are presented abroad. In Bulgaria, it was introduced on April 30, 2001, when it became a party to the Hague Convention, concluded in The Hague on October 5, 1961.
